XY-Wing

Use three two-candidate cells in a Y-shaped pattern.

What to look for

A pivot with candidates XY connected to one XZ wing and one YZ wing, where the wings both see another cell.

Why it works

Whichever value the pivot takes, one wing must contain Z. Any cell that sees both wings therefore cannot contain Z.
